LinkedIn Social Login Migrates to OAuth 2.0
On April 11, 2014, LinkedIn moved its social login functionality to OAuth to make it more secure. This move directly impacts the LinkedIn social login on your website and mobile application, as any requests to authorise new members or refresh tokens will fail and result in an error message. You can read more about it at LinkedIn developer blog here.
As a LoginRadius customer, you do not need to worry about this change. The only thing you need to do is register your application’s redirect URLs with the LinkedIn platform to comply with OAuth 2.0 specifications. Instructions to do so are below:
- Log into LoginRadius account
- Select your LoginRadius site
- Go to Manage > Social Login > Social Network Configuration
- Select LinkedIn and follow the steps to edit your LinkedIn app
In step 4, you will be provided with a Redirect URL for the application. Make sure to provide this URL in the LinkedIn app and you won’t have any problems with your LinkedIn social login.
