We faced a major problem while developing one of our product and the problem was:
“Internet users are visiting the website but running away from it causing high bounce rate i.e low conversation rate even after significant improvement in web design and functionality, though the concept was well received! So strangely, we were not able to get the expected user base! Lots of users are visiting but a very few are registering!!”
After analyzing the problem and conducting surveys, here are surprising facts we came to know: 1) Internet users don’t want to go through lengthy registration processes anymore; 2) They do not want to create another account and remember another username and password, and 3) They do not want to receive unwanted emails.
We were like here is a simple solution, lets users log in with their existing IDs, just one click and they can access our service and we do not send unwanted emails! The good thing is the problem has already been solved back in year 2005 with advent of OpenID concept. The OpenID Movement has been joined and endorse by big companies such as Google, Microsoft, Facebook, AOL and many more.
So, we decided to put all these popular OpenIDs on our website and allow users to log in. We started studying their APIs and feature, then implementing them. There comes another problem, this is a tedious and length process and you need to have good command on programming, above all you have to repeat the same for next website!! (Pardon my language but that pissed me off).
Based on our experience, to perfectly implement an OpenID, a new developer needs total of 5 Hrs and we decided to go for top 15 so total costs 5×15 = 75 man-hours i.e. if I attach $ value it’ll cost between $4k-8k!!
Now think about these:
1) If each website owners or companies do it by themselves, it’s going to cost them big bucks!!
2) And what about the people who don’t have programming skills?
3) What about the small companies or website owners who can’t take the financial burden to have OpenIDs?
Yes, we got the solution to all these issues; we called it LoginRadius. We want to promote OpenID movement and would like to assist all website owners to have their websites OpenIDs enabled for FREE!
